The Plateau State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs received National Youth Service Corpe (NYSC) members serving under the Ministry on August 5, 2025. The community development service rendered by the Corpe members has garnered attention from the Ministry’s community.

The project initiated by the NYSC members is a monumental structure that will leave a lasting legacy in the history of both the NYSC and the Ministry. Notably, the Ministry has been distinguished as the only government agency that pays its Corpe members more than any other, and it has once again set a new standard in welfare support for NYSC members.

Hon. Nshe Nicholas, Executive Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, who stood in for the ALGON Chairman, commended the Corp members for their service in the state. He thanked them and admonished them to be ambassadors of progress and development in Plateau State. He also congratulated them on the edifice they created in the Ministry.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Ishaya Malau, congratulated the Corpe members for identifying a space in the Ministry to create the edifice. He emphasized that the Ministry has always been supportive of the Corpe members. He also thanked them for their efforts and contributions to the Ministry.

The project was presented by Simon Sulisma, who handed over the edifice to the Hon. Commissioner, Chief Ephraim Usman, who appreciated the idea. The project, dubbed the “Photo Stand,” is a photo stand designed for official visits to the Ministry, and it stems from the Corpe members’ community development service initiative.

The NYSC Coordinator in Plateau State, Mr. Jonathan Yavala, thanked the Hon. Commissioner for supporting the Corpe members in the Ministry and across the state. He also expressed gratitude to Hon. Kemi Nshe Nicholas and Hon. Lapching Golime for being among the best hosting Chairmen.

The Hon. Commissioner, Chief Ephraim Usman, was impressed by the Corpe members’ initiative and applauded their good conduct, which aligned with their national assignment. Although he wished he could retain all of them to work under his Ministry, he congratulated them on their achievements and wished them well as some prepared to conclude their national service.

He promised them a special reward from the Commissioner and Chairmen before they returned to their respective residences.Usman emphatically informed the NYSC Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan Yavala, that the developments were backed by the support and approval of Governor Mutfwang, who has a special affinity for Corpe members posted to Plateau State. He further emphasized that this administration prioritizes the welfare of Corpe members and will consistently demonstrate this commitment.
